The Pentamedia Grand Master Tournament is on from August 13-27 at Kelambaakam, 29 Km. from Chennai. It is a 13-player category 11 tournament. There will be a bye every round and one free day in all. IM Manuel Aaron is the chief arbiter. The tournament is organised by Mr. D.V.Sundar, (also Vice President of AICF) of Sports Promotion Foundation.
E.Vladimirov who won the Hyderabad GM Tournament last month by a mile should be the favourite. Indian challenge for the norms should come from P.Harikrishna, S.S.Ganguly and Madras-born Devaki Prasad and G.B.Prakash. Seasoned GMs Abhijit Kunte, K.Sashikiran and D.Barua should be vying for the title along with Fominyh who is having a fine run in India. Iranian IM Maghami is expected to arrive only on Monday morning during the first round and has been given a bye for that round. Follow our brief daily coverage:
