| Sixth seed , Yuzvendra S. (Har)
was upset by 53rd seed Nilesh Mukerjee (W.B.) in the fourth round of the
U-9 Boys Chess Championship. In the Najdorf Variation of the Sicilian defence
, Yuzvendra faltered on the 18th move which exposed his kingside and had
to give up after 22 moves. P. Ghosh (W.B.) on the Top Board continued to
impress by defeating Y.Sandeep (A.P.)
A sarcastic game today was played on the second
board of the U-9 Girls Championship . Bhakti Kulkarni (Goa) was Queen up
and completely winning . However she lost on time on 37th move and gifted
the win to her opponent. D. Meenu (A.P.) defeated N. Patvi (A.P.)
after a long struggle. While on the third board , Dhyani Dave of Gujarat
blundered and got checkmated in a piece up position against Priya Ratnam
of Bihar.
In the U-7 Boys category , Kumar Gaurav (Bihar)
got over M.Fawazpa (Ker) who lost a piece in the middlegame to pocket the
points in 54 moves of the Najdorf Variation. On the second board
, P. Negi of Delhi defeated Salman Faris , while on the third board S.
Teja of A.P. defeated Dhaval Adhav (Mah).
In the U-7 Girls section , C.H.Savetha (TN)
lost to P.L.Sahiti (A.P.) in the Sicilian Najdorf Variation. Savetha
played very poorly as she first lost a pawn on the 10th move , than lost
another pawn on the 17th move and than further lost an exchange on the
31st move . The game ended in 52 moves . While on the second board P.Priya
(T.N.) won against G. Madan Shree (AP) in the Reti Opening and on the third
board , T. Amrutha (A.P.) won against Sumona Agrawal (Guj) . |
