| Mohansengupta (W.B.) shocked
third seed T. Vargini (A.P.) in the second round of the U-7 Girls Chess
Championship . Playing with the white pieces , Mohansengupta played the
sharp Guico Piano opening and crushed her opponent in just 24 moves.
While on the Top board , second seed P. Sahiti (A.P.) won easily against
18th seed V. Chaitanya (A.P.) in 57 moves of the Sicilian Defence.
P.Priya (T.N.) also won without much difficulties against Parisha Dalal
(Gujarat) on the third board.
In the U-7 Boys section , Top seed Kumar Gaurav
(Bihar) , who is looking in great touch , defeated J. Keerthi (T.N.) in
54 moves of the Guico Piano Opening . Gaurav won a pawn on the 17th move
and converted his advantage beautifully to a full point. P. Negi (Delhi)
, on the second board defeated Samrat Gorai (WB) in just 29 moves of the
Ruy Lopez to take his tally to 2 points.
In the U-9 Boys category , second seed P. Ghosh
(WB) won in 56 moves of the Sicilian defence against D. Adhidan (TN) .
On the seconed board B.Aditya (Mah) and A. Palani (TN) split points . While
on the third board Nilesh Mukerjee (WB) pulled out the sting from Nitesh
Bhat 's Sicilian Dragon to register win in 41 moves.
D. Meenu (AP) showed her better endgame
preparation against Payal Guha (WB) in the U-9 Girls Section to win in
72 moves and taking her tally to 2 points. While on the Second board ,
second seed I. Krishna once again won quicky in 32 moves of the
Ruy Lopez against R. Aparna . Krishna won an exchange on the 19 move
and the rest was all over for Aparna. |
