A half chance for the champion Garry Kasparov was missed on Saturday when he could play a line with an extra pawn. The miss which occurred in time pressure virtually locked the position into one of equality and they drew before the time pressure was completed.
Kramnik faced the Nimzo-Indian defence and set himself for an attack. When he took a last-minute u-turn in his attack with Rc4, black's position became slightly better. With four games to go, Kramnik is firmly in the lead by two points and history is likely to be made on Nov 4.
Any other result than a Kramnik victory will be an anti-climax to the
match which is being played at the Riverside Television Studios in West
London since October 8.
