Kasparov Returns To e4, Berlin Wall Holds
By Arvind Aaron
Vladimir Kramnik held on to his fifth successive black to draw and lead the match by that victory in game two. Kasparov chose the king pawn after the English opening did not provide him with the deserved results. Kramnik varied himself on move nine and drew with secure play. Kasparov appeared headed for an advantage but black's aggressive play on the queen side fizzled the game out to a draw.
Kasparov said he made a mistake by surrendering the d-file where Kramnik operated and crippled the two white pieces into inactivity before making a draw. Kasparov who had remained reliant on his openings to deliver the goods has found the going difficult in order to win a game in the match.
