SUNDAR
TO REPRESENT ASIA IN FIDE BOARD MEETINGS
Three
Chess Officials of Indian Chess Mr.D.V.Sundar,
Mr.R.M.Dongre and Mr.Bharat Singh received further
recognition in the various meeting held at
Turin
,
Italy
during the FIDE Congress.
Mr.D.V.Sundar, 55, the Honorary Secretary of the AICF
from Chennai will represent Asian Continent in the FIDE
Board meetings. He was elected as one of the Board
members to represent
Asia
in the FIDE Board. It is hoped that Sundar's presence in
the FIDE Board will benefit Indian players immensely.
India
under him and with a presence in FIDE should help major
international competitions be held in the land from
where chess originated.
Mr.R.M.Dongre, the Vice President of the AICF from
Mumbai was elected the Deputy President of the
Commonwealth Chess Association. Dongre had organised the
Commonwealth Championships in Mumbai through his
Venus
Chess
Academy
.
Mr.Bharat Singh Chauhan, 46, Honorary Treasurer of the
AICF from
Delhi
was elected President of Asian Zone 3.2. He was elected
unanimously as President of Zone 3.2. Besides these, he
is the dynamic Secretary of the Delhi Chess Association
and organises the Parsvnath International Open each year
in the capital.
Along with the World Chess Olympiad at
Turin
, FIDE also had its Congress and important decisions
were taken. Chiefly, in the elections that were held,
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov of
Elista
,
Russia
got re-elected by a 96-54 vote. The Bessel Kok panel
largely supported by European nations was defeated.
