Koya Gets Anticipatory Bail
P.T.Ummer Koya, the former Secretary of the All India Chess Federation (AICF), sought and obtained, Anticipatory Bail in a complaint filed against him for cheating, forgery, fabrication of public records and swindling huge amounts. The said complaint is pending investigation with the Central Crime Branch, Egmore, Chennai.
Koya had forged the signature of Manuel Aaron and others in 1991 in a document for secretly registering the AICF in 1991 at Calicut even though the AICF was already registered at Chennai in 1958.
It is pertinent to mention here that in his petition for anticipatory bail, Koya does not deny anywhere that he did not forge Aaron’s signature.
The Order copy from the High Court of Judicature at Madras states that Koya shall be enlarged on bail in the event of arrest or on his surrendering before the court and executing a bond for Rs 25,000 together with two sureties each for a like sum to the satisfaction of the learned XI Metropolitan Magistrate, Saidapet, Chennai, and on further condition that Koya appears before the respondent police everyday at 5:30 P.M. for a period of one week.
Koya has to surrender before the Court for executing the bond and furnishing sureties within two weeks of receiving the order failing which the anticipatory bail order would be cancelled.
